- It uses grade level academic vocabulary to help develop and improve academic vocabulary.
- Rather than using "elementary" keywords, using grade level references makes it aesthetically appealing which gives dignity to the secondary student.
- Because students are older and been exposed to much of the language, they can understand and acquire the concepts of the language easier. Academics begin to make more sense quicker and they are able to apply what they are learning to their other subjects.
- And important to a secondary student, it can be completed within two school semesters, reducing the amount of electives a student must give up.

- The R.A.P. Secondary Reading Program© was designed specifically for secondary teacher who works with students who are not reading on grade level.
- This curriculum imbeds the appropriate rationales to the reading and spelling concepts helping the student make sense of the English language.
- The teacher implements the structure of the English language in a relevant manner, teaching reading and writing in an effective and efficient way.
- The curriculum is scripted to be delivered in an explicit, direct, systematic, sequential, cumulative and comprehensive manner.
- It includes the components of the science of reading and fulfills all requirements to serve students with dyslexia.
- Although therapy level curriculum, it does not require a therapist. A teacher can be trained to deliver the structure of the English language easily and assuredly.
